About UsPhenostream Inc. is a hobby robotics incubator company with a B2B foundation. Robotics R&D is funded by contract work and parts sourcing through the China Office. When dealing with manufacturers and parts venders we are a registered Chinese company (different name) represented by Jenny Fang. To everyone else we're Phenostream represented by me, Carl Erickson.
Hobby Robotics: I often get product inquiries from people who, soon into the dialogue, are surprised to find they're talking to the guy who actually designed the stuff they're asking about. I guess they expect to get some sales guy but there is no such posting here. For all you who've come for the robots, consider me a fellow hobbyist who just happens to manufacture things.
Contract Design Work: For a guy who did comp-sci rather than engineering I do a heck of a lot of mechanical and electronic engineering. I do sometimes hire Chinese engineers in Shenzhen but that's mostly so I can send them to factories to oversee production. I personally examine each drawing and verify QC. We've recently begun a new mech-eng service that's working-out quite well i.e. accepting SketchUp concept designs which we convert to ProEng/SolidWorks drawings for manufacture. Resolving major design issues in a concept model then letting someone else take care of the details is highly efficient - let's you focus on things only you can do.
Procurement: A lot of companies and individuals do sourcing from China. Most procurement agents offer little value beyond that of supplying the goods and carefully guard the identity of their suppliers. We provide full disclosure and extensible service via SharePoint and Instant Messaging.
