BuildPlates are aluminum strips that can be hole-punched, cut, bent, and fastened to form a vast array of structures at low cost. Components such as motors, gears and circuit boards can be easily mounted to BuildPlate frames.
BuildPlates were originally processed with hand-tools which, though yielding good results, was a far too labor intensive process for most (including us). We've now developed a $200 USB peripheral that spits them out automatically. Our BPM fabricator processes approximately two BuildPlates per minute as directed by XML files generated by our SketchUp Plug-in (PSP).
